Tips for Studying Medical Microbiology

Step 1: Review before class

Of primary importance: topics from molecular genetics, cell biology and biochemistry. There are many online resources.

DNA from the Beginning by Cold Spring Harbor Labs
Biochemistry of DNA/replication/etc. (Great links at the bottom)
The Biology Project @ U-Arizona
The 3-D Virtual Cell Web Page

Step 2: Find new resources as you study new topics

The Open Directory Project is a clearinghouse of many websites
The Dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology (restricted to occasional use)
Immunology-specific:
The Biology Project
Immunology Index

Step 3: Integrate the information with known methods

make charts/tables from your notes & reading
write notecards
use similarities and dissimilarities to learn
make review sheets to compile the information
