To our new mentors, welcome to the first week of POM-1! We send out our most sincere thanks for your help with this very important course.

To our returning mentors, welcome to you as well, and we again thank you for your ongoing support to this course and our students. It’s great to realize that many of our mentors have been with course since it’s beginning, and some even served in the course preceding it. Despite all the challenges in a course as large as POM-1, you should know that your work is consistently highly rated and highly valued by our students. When you choose to return as a mentor, you directly contribute to the continuity and evolving knowledge of our faculty, which in turn assures the quality of the experience for each new class of students.

This is the first reminder you will receive. We send these weekly, usually ever the weekend, and they include the upcoming week's schedule, as well as any changes.
Please take a moment to read them as you may see updates to the schedule or changes within the course that could affect your week.

Small Group - Autobiography session

Mentors should have arranged for groups to meet for the autobiography session. Let the POM office know if you need help with this.

You should remind your students to select a liaison to represent the group to the course directors at the "Liaison Lunches."  The first luncheon will be held in October. They will be emailed the date, time and location.  We ask that the liaisons speak with your group the week of the luncheon to be able to bring any concerns, questions, etc... to the course directors and staff of the Practice of Medicine-1 office.  Please e-mail your liaison name and contact information to robinstevens@virginia.edu.

If you have any questions, concerns, etc...always feel free to contact the staff of the POM-1 office and/or course directors.
