Characteristics of Believable Research: Pertinence

Believable studies evaluate technologies that are appropriate to incorporate into clinical practice and share 4 common features. They are pertinence, validity, reliability, and generalizability.

  • Pertinence

Pertinence describes whether a study is important and relevant to a clinical situation. The evaluation of pertinence is generally a subjective one based on the opinions of individuals whose clinical practice involves the area detailed in the study.
