Health Sciences Library (Claude Moore Library)

Spanning Jefferson Park Avenue to the west of Jordan Hall is the Health
Sciences Library. Opened in 1975, the facility provides a "physical and
metaphysical" bridge between the hospital and the medical school. The
library contains over 160,000 volumes of books and journals and over 48,000
non-print media programs including numerous educational software programs.
Current subscriptions are received annually for over 2700 journals.
The library offers a wide range of reference works such as directories,
guides, handbooks, indices and abstracts. In addition, free self-service
searching of journal databases, including MEDLINE,
is available through the Library's on-line system and CD-ROM based system.
Information about the Library's books, journals, and audiovisuals is
available
on the Library's web
site.
Photocopy machines are available for self-service copying using coins
or copy cards. A dollar bill changer is also located in the Library.
The Learning Resources Center, located on the first floor of the Library,
maintains an extensive collection of videocassette's and other media.
Over 60 microcomputer work stations are available in the Microcomputer
Laboratory. General purpose software, such as wordprocessing and spreadsheet
programs, as well as educational software are provided in the lab. Most
of the medical courses have provided interactive computer learning programs
and materials to the Learning
Resources Center for medical student use.
Library Hours: The Library posts its operating hours on the web
(see Library
hours). Special hours are announced during exam and holiday
periods.
