Vital Signs Medical Student Performance Evaluation* (M.S.P.E.) Interview

Each student will have a half-hour appointment with Dr. Pearson for a Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) interview. The letter DOES NOT mention the area of medicine to which you are applying nor your reasons for interest in that area. Often, students will change their plans during the application and match process, so the letter is kept “generic”. It provides the personal academic history of the student. Dr. Pearson is available to discuss these things with you to keep apprised of where you are in the decision-making process and to offer help and/or encouragement in choosing a specialty.

The format of the letter includes:

  • Medical education, USMLE performance; honors, research
  • Clinical clerkships grades and written descriptions of your performance as summarized in your evaluations
  • Research projects
  • Extracurricular, community and volunteer activities

Due 4 weeks
before your appointment
with Dr. Pearson.
