Always use universal precautions. Stop the burning process by
removing all clothing and jewelry. Brush off chemicals. Flush
away wet chemicals wit copius amounts of tap water. Obtain essential
medical information prior to intubation when possible. Airway
maintenance, CPR, and other life savibg procedures are initiated
whenever life treating problems are identified. Repeat the primary
and secondary surveys to assess deteriorations. Burn victims are
likely to have associated trauma sustained in the burn environment
or during escape.
