have relapsing - remitting form with a more favorable prognosis
(has partial or full remissions), chronic progressing form is less
favorable, 0.2% overall lifetime risk, peaks in 20s and 30s (rare
after age 50), whites, women 60-70%; temperate climates; Clinical
- optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, internuclear opthamoplegia
/ paresthesias, disseminated encephalitis, double vision with lateral
gaze, various neurological presentations (sensory or motor complaints,
dysphagia, abnormal bladder function, sexual dysfunction, ataxia,
tremor, dizzy, syncope, altered memory or judgement, trigeminal
neuralgia, cranial nerve pathology, pupil abnormalities, possible
psychiatric component, depression); Work Up - CBC, glucose, ? CSF
evaluation (increased protein and mononuclear cells), Head CT /
MRI with Gadolinium. |
