The etiology, epidemiology, and histopathology
of the Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas have been presented
in the previous sections. Here we will explore the clinical
aspects of the malignant lymphomas with a more extensive discussion
of the clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and staging
of disease in preparation for treatment options.
The goal of the physician is to establish a diagnosis, determine
the extent of disease (stage), and institute appropiate therapy
for the patient.
- Clinical Presentation
- signs & symptoms
- laboratory tests- including biopsy & when appropriate
FNA
- Staging
- Treatment
- chemotherapy
- radiation
- observe and do no harm
Because the clinical presentation, staging, treatment and
prognosis different for Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas
they will be considered separately. |
