The White Cell Disorders are organized into four major
subtopics: "Benign" Disorders, Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Dysproteinemias
and Plasma Cell Disorders as outlined on the previous card.
The "Benign" Disorders section includes both congenital and
reactive abnormalities of white cells. Proliferative disorders,
including the major malignant hematologic diseases of white
cells: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, are discussed in the
remaining three sections.
Certain proliferative disorders of platelets and of red cells
are also considered in the section on proliferative disorders
of white cells. Functional disorders of platelets are covered
in the Coagulation/Hemostasis unit.
