The Pediatrics clerkship is a 6 week experience designed to introduce third year medical students to the fundamentals of caring for children from birth and infancy to adolescence and into young adulthood. The clerkship is divided into a 3 week inpatient experience and a 3 week ambulatory experience. Students have the opportunity to rotate at sites at UVA medical center as well as more urban settings and rural settings for both. Students will also become familiar with both specialty pediatric care and general pediatric services while on this clerkship. Didactic sessions given by attending physicians and a dedicated teaching senior resident augment student daily learning throughout the clerkship block.
