Emergency Body CT > Learning Objectives


  1. Know the utility of CT in the emergency care setting.
  2. Understand the usefulness of oral and IV contrast in the acute care setting.
  3. Know some of the common adverse reactions to non-ionic and ionic contrast agents and how to treat such reactions.
  4. Know normal abdominal anatomy on axial CT images.
  5. Recognize trauma to the spleen, liver, pancreas, kidneys, bowel and bladder.
  6. Recognize some of the common abdominal inflammatory conditions (cholecystitis, pancreatitis, appendicitis, and colitis).
  7. Recognize renal calculus on CT.
