Neurofibroma

Clinical

        Arise from Aurbach’s plexis in subserosa

        Sites (in order of frequency) - jejunum, stomach, ileum, colon, mesentery

        Usually single

        Multiple small bowel neurofibromas occur in 25% of patients with von Recklinghausen’s disease (neurofibromatosis type I, autosomal dominant)

Radiological

        Smooth, rounded, sessile or pedunculated masses

        May ulcerate (target lesion)

        Multiple neurofibromas - eccentrically aligned along one border (antimesenteric)
