Introduction

As you move through the description of each of the T-E-A-C-H components, think about how you might apply the components to your own teaching. You may want to experiment with the various components if you currently have a student with you.

The TEACH model was developed based on feedback from University of Virginia School of Medicine students. Its concepts reflect resident teaching behaviors specifically identified by UVA medical students. The majority of concepts can be incorporated into clinical care and addressed "on the fly." The TEACH model is easy to remember, straightforward, and can profoundly impact the educational experience of the students on your service.
