Attendance: Attendance at elective activities is mandatory.

  • Anyone who is ill or has a personal or family emergency must contact Student Affairs and the Attending on Service.
  • Students are allowed to take off up to 1 day per week to interview between November 1 and February 1.
    • Specific days missed must be approved by the Attending on Service.

Course Description: Opportunity is available to engage in research programs in the Surgical Research Laboratory. In general, the student will participate in surgically-oriented projects that are in progress or planned. The student will assume responsibilities to the extent that she/he is able. Recent programs have been concerned with organ preservation, cardiovascular function, wound healing, gastric physiology, biliary physiology, cancer immunology, nutrition, metabolism, lung transplantation, lung physiology, pancreas physiology, glucose and insulin metabolism.
