ACE - A. I. in Clinical Plastic Surgery

Duration: 4 weeks maximum, 2 weeks minimum

Available: all rotations

Report to: Dr Gampper or Dr. Black

Time to Report: 8:15 am

Place to Report: Plastic Surgery Clinic

Typical day: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Attendance: A student may not take time off during an ACE.

Attendance at elective activities is mandatory.

  • Anyone who is ill or has a personal or family emergency must contact Student Affairs and the Attending on Service.
  • Students are allowed to take off up to 1 day per week to interview between November 1 and February 1.
    • Specific days missed must be approved by the Attending on Service.

Course Description: A clinical externship for students interested in exposure to all aspects of Plastic Surgery. The goal of the course is to familiarize the student with the basic foundations of Plastic Surgery. Objectives are dependent upon the level of training, but include principles of wound care, burn management and acquisition of wound closure techniques. Aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, including laser surgery will be emphasized as they work with Drs. Morgan, Campbell, Gampper and the resident team. Students will be required to prepare a presentation on a topic of interest or a case report. There are weekend rounds and night call. Visiting students should submit a CV with their application.
